He is a winner of President’s Gold Medal from the Officers Training Academy for being first in order of merit and best officer commissioned from his batch. He is a professional intelligencer from the Corps of Military Intelligence of the Indian Army with around 27 years of relevant experience both in the Corporate and Government.

A former army officer, Colonel Sanganagouda Dhawalgi is the Executive Director of Netrika, a global leader in risk mitigation and integrity management services, operating in emerging and frontier markets. Based in Bangalore, he heads the company’s forensic investigation (FI) division. Throughout his rich career, he has leveraged his remarkable domain expertise to lead anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, and employee fraud/ third party investigations for various national as well as international organizations.

After doing his MBA from IIT Kharagpur, Dhawalgi went on to become a certified fraud examiner. His first job after leaving the Indian Army, saw him managing fraud investigations (external & internal), due diligence, dispute services, grey market survey, FCPA, fraud risk management, investigative interviewing, etc. at Ernst & Young. Then served as the Director of Corporate Investigations at Fidelity for four years and two months. Before joining Netrika in 2018, he headed PwC’s South India practice for four-and-a-half years besides serving as an advisor for almost another year post his second retirement.

A certified Lead Auditor of ISO 27001, he is a global advisor for Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the President of its local chapter in Bangalore where he also trains ACFE aspirants. He has authored Deceit Detection & Interrogation, a seminal book on forensic practices which is in restricted circulation with military and police organisations. Beginning his military career as part of the fighting arms for ten years, he served in the military intelligence for the latter half of his nearly three decades of revered experience in the Indian Army.

A passionate hockey and football player in his early days, he later took to playing racquet games, especially squash. A fond reader, he is currently utilizing his spare time to write his second book Guide to Investigative Interviewing Techniques. When he is not working, he likes to spend time with his wife, a former teacher, his two children, and two grandchildren.
