For a professional to gain the CFE certification, they must meet the standard eligible criteria laid down by ACFE (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners), the largest anti-fraud organisation in the world. To start with, a professional must join the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) as a member. Joining the ACFE is mandatory to be eligible for a CFE certification and it also opens doors for candidates to leverage the multitude of resources available on the ACFE website to be ready for the Certified Fraud Examiner Exam.
Besides access to resources, interested candidates can also enrol in an instructor-led certified fraud examiner course, which covers all the material needed to pass the test and obtain recognition as a CFE. While a candidate spends significant time and effort in the CFE certification study course, they must register for the CFE Exam application form online on time on the ACFE website to sit for the test. The four steps of the online application for the Certified Fraud Examiner exam include paying for the exam, providing a signed statement, mentioning experience and character, and meeting as well as adding the qualifications in the application form. Additionally, you have to upload supporting files to the ACFE website’s certification gateway. The supporting documents include your picture, proof of education, experience certifications, and expert recommendations. After completing this application, it will be examined in three to five working days, and you will receive an email.
Upon application form completion, a candidate must sit and pass the exam to be eligible for a certificate. Based on ACFE anti-fraud procedures, there are four main areas in which your understanding of the CFE course will be tested.
There are one hundred questions in each part, and you have seventy-five seconds to answer each one. After inserting your exam activation key, you have thirty days to finish and turn in all portions for grading. You have to complete every portion of the exam once you start. You don’t need to finish answering every question in each of the four sections in one sitting. Taking one section at a time is the best approach. Each component of the Certified CFE Exam requires three attempts to pass. The two general formats for the questions on the CFE Exam are the “Multi-Choice Format,” also known as the “Multiple-Choice Question Format,” and the “True/False Question Format.” Participants in the CFE Exam are required to choose the right response from the four options designated a, b, c, and d in the Multi-Choice Question Format. CFE Exam candidates are required to mark ‘True’ or ‘False’ according to the accuracy of each statement in the True/False Question Format. During the CFE exam, you will only be able to see one question at a time on the screen. However, there will be an option to move to the next question if you so want. Candidates can choose to respond to the questions randomly or chronologically, meaning in the order in which they are presented. The number of questions attempted and the total number of unanswered questions will show up on the screen.
As soon as a candidate passes the exam, they will be evaluated by the appropriate authorities of the ACFE to be eligible for obtaining a Certified Fraud Examiner credential.
